Privacy
Last updated 25 August 2026. PickleKakis is a small Singapore app run by two people, and this describes exactly what it stores.
The short version
- We store your email, a nickname you choose, and what you do in the app.
- We never see, hold or move your money. Payments go bank to bank over PayNow.
- We don't sell anything to anyone, and there are no ads or ad trackers.
- You can ask us to delete your account and we will.
What we collect
Because you gave it to us
- Email address — the only way we sign you in. There is no password.
- Nickname — shown to other players. Use whatever you like; it does not have to be your real name.
- Skill level — the 1–5 you pick yourself.
- Profile picture — optional. Either one of our cartoon presets, which are just a name we store, or a photo you upload. An uploaded photo is stored as a file with our database provider and is visible to other players, the same as your nickname. Deleting your account deletes it.
- PayNow ID — optional, and only if you host paid games. It is kept in a separate table from the rest of your profile and is shown only to people who have joined a paid game you are hosting. No other user can read it.
Because you used the app
- Games you host or join, with venue, time and cost.
- Chat messages on games you are part of. Readable by the other people on that game.
- Attendance — whether the host marked you as having turned up.
- Payment status — whether a host confirmed your share arrived, and a reference code we generate for you. We never see the payment itself.
- Strikes — recorded automatically if you hold a spot without paying, if a host says a payment you claimed never arrived, or if you are marked a no-show.
- Reports and blocks you make about other users, and the category you picked.
- Suspensions, if a safety report is filed about you. Only you can see your own.
- When you accepted the terms — a date, recorded the first time you set up your profile.
Your location, only if you ask for it
Tapping Near me asks your browser for your location so we can sort games by how far away they are. Nothing happens unless you tap it, and your device will ask you first — you can say no and use the area filter instead.
- We ask for the low-accuracy position, and we round it to three decimal places — roughly 110 metres — before doing anything with it. That is precise enough to sort courts by distance and far too coarse to identify a home.
- We never store it. It is not written to your profile or to our database. It goes into the web address of the filtered page so the list can be sorted, which means it appears in our host's ordinary web request logs, and it is gone as soon as you clear the filter or close the page.
- Because it sits in the web address, a filtered board you copy and paste to somebody carries the rounded coordinates with it. Clear the Near mefilter first if you would rather it did not.
What other players can see
Your nickname, picture, skill level, experience tier, reliability score and recent strike count are visible to other signed-in users. That visibility is the point — it is how someone decides whether to join a game with you.
Your email address is never shown to anyone. Neither is your PayNow ID, except to people on a paid game you host.
Money
PickleKakis is not a payment service and does not hold, route or process money. When you pay a host, the transfer happens between your bank and theirs over PayNow. We display the amount and a reference code and record whether the host said it arrived. We cannot reverse a payment or issue a refund, because we never had the money.
How we measure what is working
We record a small set of actions so we can tell which courts people actually want, what they search for and cannot find, and where the app confuses them. It is the difference between fixing a real problem and guessing.
What is recorded
- Which page you opened, and which sport you were looking at.
- When you tap through to a venue's own booking site — which venue, not who you are.
- When a search returns nothing, and which filters you had set.
- Signing in, posting a game, joining one, and saying you've paid.
What is not
- No third-party analytics. No Google Analytics, no advertising or tracking pixels, nothing shared with anyone. It goes into our own database and stays there.
- No IP address, no device fingerprint, no browser or screen details, and nothing you typed.
- A random session code ties the steps of one visit together so we can see where people give up. Your browser forgets it the moment you close the tab, and it is not linked to you.
The individual records are deleted after 90 days. What we keep after that is daily totals — “41 people tapped through to this venue in March” — with nobody in them.
Who else touches your data
- Supabase — the database and sign-in system. Your data is stored there.
- Vercel — hosts the website and sees standard web request logs.
- OneMap (Singapore Land Authority) — we used it to place venues on a map. It receives venue addresses, never anything about you.
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking services, and we do not sell or share your data with anyone else.
Your rights under the PDPA
Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act gives you the right to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, and to withdraw consent. You can change your nickname, level, picture and PayNow ID yourself at any time on your profile.
You can delete your account yourself, immediately, from your profile — or from picklekakis.com/delete-account if you can no longer sign in. It removes your profile, your PayNow ID, your messages, your participation records, your strikes and your reports. There is no deactivated state and we keep no backup copy.
Games you were hosting are cancelled and then stay, without you attached to them, so the people who joined and paid still have their reference codes. Nothing identifying you remains on them.
One exception, stated plainly. If your account is suspended or blocked from paid games at the moment you delete it, we keep a one-way hash of your email address and a date, so that deleting and signing up again is not a way around it. We do not keep the address itself, the hash cannot be turned back into it, and the entry is deleted when the restriction would have expired. If your account is in good standing — which is almost everyone — we keep nothing at all.
How long we keep things
Your account and its history stay until you delete them. Strikes stop counting against you after 60 days, though the row remains until you delete your account. An automatic suspension expires by itself after 7 days unless we uphold it after review. Our own server job logs are deleted after 30 days.
One honest caveat
PickleKakis is early software run by two people, not a company with a security team. We have taken it seriously — payment IDs are isolated, access rules are enforced in the database rather than only in the app, and the whole thing has been audited — but please don't put anything here you would be upset to see leaked. Use a nickname if you would rather not use your real name.
